Build a computer - Need advices

Hi, as some of you know I'm playing all my PC games on my family's PC, although it's only 2 games ( CoD 4 & MW2) I have noticed that this computer have become slow.

Here is the specs I can find on this PC.

I can't write everything cause I'm not that good with PC hardware so I took a screenshot of a list that I'm pasting here.

Dell Inspiron 531 (Stationary, not the laptop version as some people think)





Feel free to say whatever you like about this, if it is bad for gaming or similiar stuff.

My budget is 750-1000 Euro. At the moment I only have 200 Euro but I'm saving some money so I can afford this.

So now I need your advice so I can get as much power as possible out of this money

search for a swedish computershop and buy a pc-system ( of course it's cheaper to build it by your own )

i have here a german shop, just to show you what you can buy for ~ 1000€
a powerful system !

so dont pay to much !!! you get a lot for 1000€ !!!

this shop works all over europe ( its in english ) and its a bit more expensive like the other,
but a good rated shop with cup's for their good work and service!
Look this PC for example - good price, and you just have to upgrade the graphiccard in maybe 2 years,
to make it up to date! ( its a very good card for now and next time !!! (ATI Radeon 5770 with 1GB))
(Main Memory is more then enough, and CPU is Good enough for many years)

you can spend a bit money in a mouse and keyboard, but dont pay more then 1000€ for a PC.
In my opinion its absolutly not needed and wasted money !


Look for a good shop ! these are just examples what you can get for this money !
So dont let them cheat you !!!

WoW thats a great offer.
Here in greece the same specification cost 300 euro more

yes, One.de is cheap. But i think they save some money by a cheap case and a cheap Mainboard. ( they buy of course masses of the parts )
If you build your own piece by piece you can save even more money and invest it in an better
CPU- and a better GPU cooling system.

I have a Skythe Musashi on my Card, in my opinion the best and most quiet cooling fan!
(and an EKL Alpenföhn "Zugspitze" on my CPU)

Okey, so you think that I should buy a complete computer? From Alternate or One.de?

I think you are right about the budget, I'll lower it a bit, but it would be fun to build your own PC though, so I get as much power possible out of the money


So max, if I do want to build my computer, do you have any hardware tips? Like CPU & Videocard/graphics and stuff?
I think it would be fun and challenging to build a PC that's why I want to do it myself

One thing I need to know is how to find out which parts is compatible with others and which isn't.

i found some single prices !

and no information about the manufacturer from Graphiccard and Memory !

so it sounds better then it is.
first you can throw case,energy direct into the garbage
GPU, Memory, Mainboard can be much different to the Top Products ( in price, power, energy using, temp, sound, quality )

Thank you very much max, by the way, I found a swedish computer shop & and they could make sure that all the parts you ordered was working/compatible with each other and they could put it together for 80€ + you get 2 years warranty if the PC breaks down

first: I ordered nothing ! I only made suggestions for fast, balanced and good quality components (in my opinion)
register at alternate, components in the basket, insert correct adress and so on, check the way you want to pay and the way of delievering

second: it's possible that some components don't work, sometimes they're defect (specially memory)
alternate send you (normally) quickly new ones. you're from sweden, so i can't say how long you have to wait for it (if it happens)

third: you have to know whether you can trust those guys ! keep the receiptions so they cant put you something cheaper inside and they keep the good things by themselves, and check all components when its done whether they're the same you gave them !!!! keep attention if they make scratches on your case or components - less money to pay for you, or whatever. attention to the harddrive - there are shock absorbers, they have to use them ! check your system without haste before you pay and sign anything. if they try to hurry you, it's suspicious
and very important - you have for every component an own guarantee. If you overclock CPU or GPU, guarantee is gone. If you want to overclock, they have to do it correct, and adjust the energy correct. dont overclock without the extra CPU-cooler (intel cooler is garbage)
whatelse?? mmh ... take time and let them explain the system, it's an expensive and powerful system and you will have it for a looooong time.
you can upgrade it cheap (in a few years) while you only buy some components, or 4 GB more memory and so on. The case and the basic is good to keep it for longer time and good to upgrade it (you dont have to buy a complete new one next time) so i wouldnt overclock anything, its not needed and you're on the saver way without it. install all drivers, they have to show you that memory has the right frequencys, same at CPU,GPU
install a monitoring progam to see your temperaturs and so on. install a fan controlling program to adapt it to Temp. and Volume (you dont need full power for desktop using for example. it's louder then. and you have to think to needed energy - save the earth and your moneybag, save energy! )

I am curious whether everything works immediately, and how fast and how silent the system is!

be cool if there are some small problems at the beginning, thats normal. be cool generally, you find at every system some small things you dont like
( when you got it new ) i've never seen a PC i've liked 100% at the first days

And the shop I told you about who could put the PC together isn't a small company, it's like MediaMarkt (Guess that exists in germany) but they only sell PC & Components.

i havent said anything about an extra GPU cooler

i've only chosen an extra CPU cooler, for Prozessor. And there is enough space in the case for it! It shouldn't make any problems to built it !
all good CPU coolers are big. the one i've chosen is about 15 cm high, the case is about 20 cm wide - space enough

in my system i have only a few mm, maybe one cm but its ok

so you want to buy the components in your shop ? and they want extra money to build it ? mmmh.. same prizes like alternate ?

all parts fit to each other, all bases are right. and space is enough in this case.

when i choosed them i also read many comments from people who buyed the components. some gave 5 stars, some 3... and they wrote why
they gave them the stars or not. i've spent a lot of time to read the comments and why people like it and why not.
