Black Ops problems
Well, I bought Black ops and after I installed it and was loading the first singleplayer map the game "stopped answering" anymore and i had to exit the process with ctrl+alt+delete.
And when it comes to multiplayer it takes me 1-3 minutes to load a map and when it has loaded I get the message "Lost connection to host" and were sent back to the main menu.
My setup is
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
2 GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia GeForce 8600 GT
I know the computer isn't that good but it handled MW2 well so it should be able to run this game.
My friend who has the same CPU but 1 GB more RAM than I have can run it smooth, while I can't get into a map with 2 GB RAM :/
So I have 4 "soloutions" or ideas of why it isn't working.
1. The HDD is almost full.
2. I need a faster HDD, I have 5400 rpm right now.
3. Upgrade the RAM memory from 2 to 4 GB.
4. My GPU memory is too small. Idk if it is 256 or 512 MB
So what do you think?
The game is uninstalled atm cause I'm waiting for a patch that is supposed to optimize it better. And it almost "destroyed" my PC, lol

Re: Black Ops problems
Yeap, i also had lag and stutter problems with quad core, 6 gb ram, 5870 ati etc.
It is the game-steam fault so we wait for a patch update.
You can try these methods

Edit: Because i haven't played the mutliplayer a lot, i didn't know that they already launched an update.

Re: Black Ops problems
Are you sure that it is the GPU?
I mean my CPU failed "can you run it".
So basically, if I buy a new card, which do you recommend? I have a budget of 200 euro at total.
But since I'm not sure that a new GPU can fix the issue, I don't know if I want to spend all my money on that.
And is there any idea of upgrading the parts in this PC at all? The mainboard is a dell, since I have a Inspiron 531 Desktop. Here is the link
The mainboard can't last forever, thats what I mean. But I'm planning on buying my own PC in a year or so.
That means that I can take my new graphic card and place in my own PC. And put back the old one in this PC.
If I have to buy a new mainboard and all that stuff, I'll save some money and buy my own PC instead.

Re: Black Ops problems
u got 3 options
1. wait till u get enough money and buy a really good one (and sadly dont play the game or f its patched it works?)
2. buy a cheap GPU, like this one and dont spent as much on new pc http://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Grafische_kaarten_ATI_Radeon_HD4000/MSI/R4650-MD1G/338712/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Grafische+kaarten&l2=Alle+PCIe+kaarten
3 (dont know if this option works cuz only ddr2 supported mobo) get a real good GPU and some extra dram and play like everything high atm
i would recommend the first one since buying a new GPU is not worth it if u buy a new pc

Re: Black Ops problems
Okay, but when I said that I'm going to buy a new PC I meant buying parts and putting it together by myself
Then it could be worth it?

Re: Black Ops problems
Axxi, try these configs
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1585466
I tried one of them and it really boosted my fps by 50.
Well it seems a little like cod4 now but at least i don't have any disadvantages against the opponents.
Better keep your original config in case you get a new pc.

Re: Black Ops problems
depends on what bugdet u gonna spend on new PC i bought mine for 349 euros and its not a real high-end one, but i did that so i had money over to upgrade it to how i wanted it which is impossible to get in a pre-build pc
putting ur own PC together is REAL hard u gotta know what ur doing and have someone who can help u at the build site(i mean not us or internet) but its alot of fun when ur hard work pays of

Re: Black Ops problems
Pain: Thank you, but I have already tried alot of different configs, none of them works :/
Guipolino: My budget atm is 400 euros but I ain't coming really far with that, so I'm saving up almost 1000 euros
Tell me if this looks okey;
HIS Radeon HD 5850 (I will start with one and then maybe upgrade to CF)
Intel Core i7 950 3.00 GHz
Asus P6X58D-E (With the Intel X58 Chipset, might want to do some small overclocking... maybe up to 3.2 GHz)
Cooler Master V8
Corsair 750W
6 GB DDR3 (Idk which brand/model yet)

Re: Black Ops problems
Haha, well I'm 14 and get 50 euros a month, but I already have 400 euro so that means that I have to save some money for 12 months at max. Maybe it doesnt take that time, Idk, but I can't afford it atm, that's what I'm saying
If I buy it next year I might want to buy the 6870 instead of the 5850, cause 6870 scale good in CF
